Visit any venue where dogs and dog lovers meet and you are bound to leave with a few heartwarming stories about rescue dogs and how a nondescript dog peeking hopefully from a shelter cage or found hobbling down a deserted road, became a beloved pet. And more often than not, you’ll hear how these rescue dogs rescue their families right back through an act of courage or just by being a loving companion through difficult times. To continue advocating and assisting homeless dogs in Fairfield County, Westport Animal Shelter Advocates (WASA) will be collecting these stories to share with readers through the publication of “Rescue Dogs of Fairfield County.” Jayne Mauborgne (jmauborn@optonline.net) and Patricia McMahon (eucalyptus.spa@mac.com) will be collecting these stories. Additionally, WASA members will be available to “ghost write” stories for those that feel more comfortable telling their story than writing their story. Proceeds from the sale of Rescue Dogs will benefit WASA. If you are interested in submitting your story, please email either Jayne or Patricia at the above-listed email address along with a photo of your rescue dog.
